I was commissioned to create a book cover for financial coach and Author, Shay Richter. The book teaches about financial management and how to keep a budget while preventing burnout.
The Brief
The client wanted this book to be geared towards women, so that influenced the color palette and the minimalist line design. Below are the first digital sketches. The lit match represents the first spark one might have when starting to budget. Just as a match needs careful handling to avoid burning out, managing finances requires balance to avoid stress and burnout. The woman's exhausted expression more literally represents the burnout one can experience from budgeting.
Color Palette
I chose a modern, soft pastel palette for this design to appeal more to women. The warmer tones give the book a lighter feel.
